Memorial Day Tournament News
More Championships over Memorial Day!
Over Memorial Day weekend many of our teams traveled to
tournaments to compete against some of the best competition
in the area.
The majority of the Cardinal teams traveled to Indiana
to play in Carmel Utd’s Thomas Murray Tournament.
Our U13 Premier team made it to the semi finals and unfortunately
got beat by the eventual champions Carmel Utd.
On a brighter note, our U10 Premier team won the tournament
beating Carmel Utd 1-0 with a goal from Sydney Loesing.
I watched the team perform in the semi final game and
was amazed by the level of play these girls showed in
a 60-minute game. Very well done girls and a great way
to end the season!
Our U14 Premier team also managed to win the championship
beating Carmel Utd in the final 2-0. Goal’s coming
from Jamie Blough and Caitlin Morgan. They also managed
to concede the least amount of goals throughout the weekend.
(1 goal in
5
games!) Presented with the “Good hands Goalie Award”
were our two goalkeepers, Ashley Sohngen and Anne Flower.
Also receiving the same award, Amber Bledsoe and Alex
Ueltschi from our U12 Goalkeepers. Well done girls - your
performance this weekend was excellent!
Congratulations also to our U16 Premier team who headed
out to Virginia to compete against some of the best teams
from the east coast. With some great results over the
weekend they managed to cap the event off by winning the
finals 3-1, heading back to Cincinnati as champions. Well
done!
Our U9 A team played locally in the Queen City tournament
unfortunately getting beat in the finals. Great job girls!

Our U9 Premier competed in the adidas Warrior Classic
along with our U16 A-team. Both teams managed to reach
the semi finals.
Finally our U8 program enjoyed a great weekend of soccer
in our annual festival for all the local U8 teams. With
no winners at this age the whole purpose is to create
an environment where the players have fun, compete against
other teams and learn from the whole experience.
Well done to everyone this weekend. It’s been a
long season and irrespective of your wins and losses you
have all represented the club well. Most importantly I
feel everyone that’s has stepped onto the training
field and into games this season has improved.
Great job girls!
