Greater Cincinnati Eight

A recreational league of Girls Southeast Cincinnati Soccer Association, Inc.

Dear Potential Coach,

You are invited to participate in the GC8, a recreational soccer program held in the spring season for U8 boys and girls teams. We do not offer a GC8 program in the fall, because at that time U8 teams become U9 teams and are eligible to play in the Cincinnati United Soccer League, or CUSL.

The GC8 is operated by Girls Southeast Cincinnati Soccer Association, or GSE. The Cardinal Soccer Club is the competitive program within GSE.

Team assignment for GC8 teams will follow the same rules as established for the recreational program of GSE. Basically, this is assignment of players to teams by geographic neighborhood.

If you are interested in volunteering to coach a team in the GC8 program, click on the Volunteer to Coach link to your left. Complete the form and mail it to:

Girls Southeast Soccer Association, Inc.
PO Box 30328
Cincinnati, OH 45230-0328.

Players who wish to play on a GC8 team are required to register online at gsesoccer.org (link to your left.) Due to the broad geographic area encompassed by the GC8, and the online registration process, we have a need for assistant registrars from the various areas who can assist the registration process.

Once coaches have been appointed and players assigned, coaches will be issued a team roster. All teams will be required to provide home fields and referees for their home games.

The league will operate on the same schedule as CUSL. Even though the GC8 is a recreational league, your games can be held on fields used by competitive teams from your Club or area, and the Referee Assigner for your Club or area can assign referees to your home games.

Teams will pay a league fee that includes OSYSA fees and league fees. It does not cover referee fees or uniform costs.

The GC8 league will provide all OSYSA recreational players and coaches passes. (This is covered in your league fee.)

For your planning purposes, the GC8 offers a League Festival, similar to an end-of-season tournament, on Memorial Day Weekend. There will be a separate entry fee for teams who wish to participate in the Festival. Details on the festival will be provided once the season is underway.

If you have any questions about the GC8, or for additional information, please contact Jim Waldron, President of GSE, at (513) 474-5939.
