Cup Semi Finals!

Congratulations to our U11 Premier team who will
compete in the Ohio South State Cup semi finals this weekend on saturday
against OP in Dayton. The finals will take place on Sunday at the same

Miami spring Classic success
Congratulations to our U9 Prem, U10 Prem, U10 A and U11A
team on winning the Miami Spring Classic. Congratulations also to our U10 B
and U11 Prem team in reaching the finals.

Cardinals dominate PRF
This past weekend the Cardinal Soccer Club participated
in the PRF tournament, reaching 7 finals and winning 5 of them. Congratulations
to our U9 Premier, U10 A and B team and our U11 A and B team in winning
their respective divisions. Unfortunately our U11 Premier lost on PK's
and our U14 B team also lost in the final. Fantastic weekend and a great
way to kick off the Spring season!
Walk-a-thon proves to be a great success!
Thank you to Patti Velton for organizing such a wonderful event. Despite the
weather we had great numbers show up at Helicopter Park. Although money is
still being collected, we have raised over $7000 dollars as of today. Thanks
also to our sponsors and all our players and parents who helped make this day
possible.
Success in Kentucky
This past weekend our U10 Premier team headed down to play in the Javanon
tournament and finished as champions. Goals came from Anna Cornacchione
Gabby Brokamp, Alexis and Kaitlyn Kiehl, Marissa Lavatori and Anna Cipolloni.

Functional Training! - For the 3 lines of play
New to this spring is our functional training program. Players will be given
the opportunity to fine-tune their specific roles on the field through small
group learning and repetition. Each program will consist of four 1-hour sessions
and will have a maximum occupancy of 12 players. The program is available
to all our U11-U14 Players. For more information please click

New U9-U11 Associate Director named.
The Cardinal Soccer Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Greg Bowman
as the new Associate Director of Coaching for the U9-U11 age groups. For
the past 6 years Greg has served as the Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach
for the University of Cincinnati. Greg holds a USSF B license and an Advanced
National Diploma through the NSCAA. Greg is currently a professional player

Associate Director honored at NSCAA
Convention.
Congratulations to our U6-U8 Associate Director of Coaching Ron Quinn. Ron
was awarded the Youth Long-Term Achievement Award for his development of
youth soccer and commitment to the National Soccer Coaches Association of
America (NSCAA), during the national convention in Philadelphia. The convention
hosted more than 8,000 coaches, administrators and exhibitors. Ron was also
appointed to the editorial board of the Soccer Journal by journal editor
Jay Martin, athletic director and men's soccer coach, at Ohio Wesleyan University.
The Soccer Journal is the official publication of the NSCAA, which has 20,000
members. Ron is also an associate professor in sport studies at Xavier University.
U7 Academy BOYS and GIRLS
Please see the attached flyer regarding our new U7 training academy. The
program will provide an excellent introduction to soccer for both players
and parents and will be held on wednesday nights at our training center
in Amelia. The academy will be run by our Associate Director of Coaching
Ron Quinn. Ron is one of the leading minds behind youth development in
the United States and is recognized both nationally and internationally.

Realignment of the Club Training Staff
Annual Club Meeting
On January 28th the Cardinal Soccer Club will be hosting its annual club/team
meetings at Anderson High School for all U8-U18 age groups. Attached is the
agenda. We look forward to seeing all coaches and parents at the meetings.
Players are also more than welcome to attend.
Cardinal DOC signs new contract!
Congratulations to our Director of Coaching,
Jon Pickup, who this past week signed a new one year extension to his existing
contract. Jon is obviously very excited to be staying with the club and looks
forward to continuing to develop the program and seeing your children grow
within our organization.
Jon will also be meeting with the club in the upcoming year to discuss a long-term
contract that would keep him with the Cardinals until 2010.

Ohio High School Asst. Coach of the
Year
Congratulations to Dave Langner on being named
Div II Asst. Coach of the Year (Madeira HS.) Dave is also our U16 Premier
head coach.

Congratulations
to our U9 Premier team in winning the Premier
Division in CUSL on there very first attempt, scoring 33
goals and only conceding 2.
Success over the weekend!
Congratulations to our U11 Premier
team who finished in second place this past weekend at the
Cincy Challenge tournament up in Lebanon. Congratulations
also to our U14 B team who won the Town and Country tournament
in Kentucky. Our U11 B team, competing in the same tournament
also finished in second place in their respective division.
Labor Day weekend
Our U9-U14 Premier teams headed up to Dayton this past weekend to compete
in the CUSA Mead Soccer tournament. Having watched everyone play this weekend
I was very happy with the level of play each team displayed on the field. Our
teams are getting better with every game and it is a pleasure to watch! 
Overall we had a very successful weekend, captivated by some excellent performances
from our younger teams with our U10 Premier team dominating the final game only
to lose on penalties. The U11 Premier team also managed to reach the final after
overcoming several injuries to the team early on in the tournament. The U14 Premier
team also reached the semi finals of the tournament.Our U14 B team also playing had a great time this weekend
reaching the semi finals in the Corpus Christi Tournament. Congratulations
to all our teams that participated in tournaments this weekend. 2006
Cardinal Cup
Once
again our pre-season tournament was a great success. Wonderful
weather and an opportunity for the players to get to know
each other as they all prepare for the season. With just
over 80 teams, brackets were very tough and the competition
coming from out of state was fantastic.
Over all our club we did very well, our
U11 and U12 Premier teams won their division and our U10,
U12 and U13 A-teams all reached the finals in their respective
divisions.

U19 State Cup Champions 
Congratulations
to our U19 Cardinal girls who won the State Cup championship
last weekend, beating DSA in the finals. Playing under
the umbrella of the Cincinnati Ladyhawks, and coached
by Tara & Mark
Schafer-Kalkhoff the team is a mixture of former Cardinal
and CUP players from last year’s U18 teams. Congratulations

U14s Win Premier Division
Congratulations
to our U14 Premier team, coached by Troy Cockrum and Mike Daly, on
winning the CUSL U14 Premier division. As the team transitions
into the U15 age group the club would like to thank
Troy for his services as he moves back to the U13 age
group to continue his work within the club. Congratulations
girls!
More Success for the Cardinals
Congratulations to our U8, U9 and U16 Premier teams for winning
league championships in their respective divisions. Good luck also
to our U14 Premier team who is only two games away from being crowned
U14 Premier Division Champions. Our U13 A team also hopes to gain promotion
to the Premier division (hopefully joining our U13 Premier State Cup
winning team) with only one game left.
U13
Premier Wins Ohio South State Cup
The Cardinal U13 premier girls soccer team (pictured below - click on photo for
larger version) won the State Cup Sunday May 15th with a 3-1 win over Blast Ambassador.
The Cardinals are pictured with head coach Paulette Rumpke and Club Director
of Training, Jon Pickup. The Cardinals were narrowly defeated in penalty kicks
in the semifinals of last years state cup game, but since that time have won
the FC Pride Cup in Indianapolis, the Miami Spring Classic, and were semifinalists
in the Jefferson Cup in Richmond Virginia. The Cardinals will be taking their
title to the regionals in Sioux Fall, South Dakota in June to compete with other
state cup winners. Currently ranked sixteenth in the country by nationalsoccerranking.com,
the Cardinals are: (row 1) Lauren Davis, Lauren Drosick, Caroline Reilly, Alix
Smyth, (row 2) Brittany Besl, Bridgette Tully, Aubrey Bledsoe, Sarah Buhr, Tori
Velten, Alli Loneman, (row 3) Jennifer Berger, Samantha Whitmore, Bethany Jeffery,
Dana Hutchinson, Alyssa Kozak, Monica Youtsey.

Sister Program Kicks Off in 2005
New to this season is our Big Sister Program, which involves our U14 girls joining
forces with our U8 program in an effort to bring the age groups closer and for

Success at
Jefferson Cup
Congratulations to our U13 Premier team. Although they did not reach the finals
they put up a great fight, losing in the last 30 seconds of overtime in the semi
finals 2-1. PDA, nationally ranked 3rd in the country eventually won the final.

Two New Coaches Join the Cardinals
Welcome to our latest additions, Leah Miller and Dave Langner.
Leah will be taking over Luigi’s responsibilities with the U8 – U13
Goalkeepers. Leah also played for the Cardinals, and represented
the club at Regionals in goal. She is a graduate of Seton
Hall and is a current player for the Cincinnati Ladyhawks
semi professional team. Dave joins the club as the U15 age group trainer and
will take over the U15 Premier team next year as they move into the U16 age
group. Dave brings with him great experience, having coached
high school, college and select soccer for many years.
Most recently he appeared at Nationals with his U16 team
finishing 3rd in the country.

Night with the Kings
On April 13th the Cardinal soccer club will be heading down to Xavier University
to watch and support the Cincinnati Kings. The Kings who represent the only
professional soccer team in Cincinnati will be hosting the Columbus Crew from
the MLS. Our U11 A team will be ball girls for the event and it should be a
great occasion for everyone. Tickets are available through your team coach.

New Cardinal Arrives!
Congratulations to Amy Dunlap, our U16 Premier coach and her
husband Dave on their new arrival. Amy gave birth to Kylie, 8
lb., 9 oz, middle name to be decided at 2am Tuesday morning.
Mom and Kylie are doing great and Amy expects her new daughter
to kicking a ball within a few weeks!

Congratulations to Luigi Oliverio, our U12 Premier coach and his wife
Emily who are expecting their first child in the late summer. Good luck
and we look forward to meeting the new addition on the soccer field.

Congratulations to our Director of Coaching, Jon Pickup, who was named
Head coach of the new professional men’s soccer team, the Cincinnati
Kings. The Kings will be based and play out of Xavier University. The
2005 season kicks off on April 16th at home against Harrisburg. The Kings
will compete in Div 2 of the USL.

Dunlap Named Division 2 Coach of the Year
Congratulations to Amy Dunlap, Division 2 Coach of the Year. Amy
is the Head Coach for the girls soccer team at Indian Hill High School.
Amy is also a graduate of the Cardinal program and currently coaches
our U16 Premier team. Well done Amy!
A Huge Thank You to our Cardinal Parent Volunteers!
Our Club could not operate without the many parents who volunteer their time
to support every facet of our operation. Parent volunteer positions include
everything from serving on the Cardinal Board to bringing treats for the
kids at halftime.

Congratulations to our U9 B team who came in runners-up this past weekend
in the Larosa's/Forest Park Invitational Tournament. The girls had a great
time and finished the season on a high!

Congratulations to our U14 premier team who finished runners up in the Diadora
Impact Fall Futbol Classic October 16-17, losing only to the number 1 ranked
team in the country. Congratulations also to our U12 A team who won the Cincy
Challenge tournament.

in their respective age groups the weekend of October 9-10. Congratulations
also to our U13 Premier team in winning their age group at the Indy Pride
